Completed in mid 2008 the Tugun Bypass gives you a high speed motorway link between the Gold Coast and NSW while allowing the old Gold Coast Highway to become a sleepy beachfront haven for shopping and dining with numerous boutiques, local cafes and restaurants. Tugun means “Breaking Waves” in the Aborigine language. Tugun is a beach-side suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. At the last census, Tugun had a population of 5,976 Situated at the junction of the Pacific and Gold Coast highways 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) north-west of Coolangatta and 96 kilometres (60 mi) south of Brisbane, the state capital.
